BY CAR: DIRECTIONS FROM THE EAST:

Rampart, drive 2 more blocks, then take a left on Dauphine. Bear right to stay on Dauphine. Continue through the intersection at Elysian Fields. 2 blocks past Elysian Fields, take a left onto Mandeville. Drive 2 blocks, then turn right onto N. Rampart. BY PLANE:

If you are arriving by plane, we recommend taking a taxicab from the airport. You can catch a cab right outside of baggage claim, the cost will be about $40, and this is generally the fastest and easiest route.

We do not recommend shuttles, as they cost the same as a cab for 2 people, and because of their size they usually are not allowed to drive into the historic districts – such as ours – to drop you off.

We do not recommend the bus, as it can be a long and confusing journey, with one to three bus changes.

Getting Around New Orleans

WALKING: New Orleans is an extremely walkable town, and Auld Sweet Olive B&B is a short stroll from many of the most popular and historic spots in the city.

STREETCAR: The nearby Rampart Streetcar will take you along the French Quarter and Louis Armstrong Park, and into the Central Business District. You can also connect for free to other Streetcar lines, including those that go to the Garden District, Audubon Park & the Zoo, the New Orleans Museum of Art, and City Park.

CABS: Our favorite cab company is United Cabs (504-522-9771). Uber is also an easy option. We are a 2-minute cab ride to the French Quarter, and you can get to nearly any point in New Orleans within 15 minutes, barring unforeseen traffic.

BUS: There is a bus stop 2 blocks away, and the bus - with transfers - can take you just about anywhere in the city.

CAR: A car can be useful if you would like to explore plantation country and the areas outside of New Orleans, but it is not necessary. Parking with us is very easy (see below) but spots can be expensive and hard to find in the French Quarter. Walking is a great option, so is taking a cab, the bus, or the streetcar.

BICYCLE: With over 100 miles of bicycle lanes and nary a hill in sight, New Orleans is a bike-friendly town. There is a Blue Bike station just 2 blocks from us (www.bluebikesnola.com) where you can rent a bicycle in just minutes, then drop it off most anywhere in the city when you’re finished.

French Quarter & Frenchmen Street

Frenchman Street is just 5 blocks away. Nicknamed “the Bourbon Street for locals,” it’s home to dozens of jazz clubs, bars, and restaurants. The French Quarter is just 9 blocks away: it’s a scenic 10-minute walk, or a 2-minute ride by cab.

Parking

We have ample, free street parking in our neighborhood. Guests usually park right in front of the B&B or at least on our block. There are no meters, and you do not have to move your car. Guests usually park when they arrive, and don't move their car till they leave. Parking really isn’t an issue. If you have a bicycle or motorcycle, you can park it safely within our gated compound.

Safety

The Faubourg Marigny is the safest residential neighborhood in the historic heart of New Orleans. The Marigny was named one of America's "Top 10 Neighborhoods" by the American Planning Association, and is the only neighborhood in New Orleans to have ever received that honor. Our local police sub-precinct is located less than a block away. However, as with any city, there is crime. Use your street smarts, and if you are out till the wee hours, take a cab home.

Restaurants

In addition to the world-famous restaurants in the French Quarter, there are 20 fantastic bars and restaurants within a 4-block radius of Sweet Olive, many featuring local Cajun and Creole cuisine. The famous St. Roch Market are each just a block away. (That Spotted Cat outpost has closed.) If you need a break from southern delicacies and seafood, let us recommend a nearby spot for a healthy salad, pizza, Spanish tapas, Vietnamese pho, barbecue, sushi, or even a juice bar fix.

Book Direct and Save

We encourage our guests to book directly with us, on this website, rather than through a third-party travel website. There is a $20 property service fee charged to guests booking through third-party travel websites. If you book here, you will not see that fee! When you book here on our website, you also get to choose your own room from those available. Sometimes there are rooms available here that are not listed on third-party sites. And sometimes there are shorter minimum stays. Thank you for your loyalty, and your support of our small business!

Our soap is made fresh for us by a local artisan, and you can only get it here! It is crafted with essences of Rosemary, Bay Rum, Pine, Grapefruit, Ginger, and Cardamom, all in a glycerine and green French clay base. It is addictive, and makes your skin feel great. Our organic shampoo and conditioner is by Giovanni. It is made with essences of peppermint, rosemary, eucalyptus, and tea tree oil, and smells fantastic!
